Main Duties:
We are seeking an experienced MS SQL (Azure) Engineer to join our growing development team. This role will involve evaluating and improving our existing database design. Improving our database performance and optimising any SQL views and stored procedures. Maintaining our database and provided support to our engineering teams. A successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future direction of our data management strategy, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and scalable solutions.
- Providing database support to developers, analysts and testers.
- Review Database SQL Git PRs and deploying these to production
- Review database design to improve performance and maintainability.
- Ensuring database integrity and security
- Maintaining SQL database and any SQL Jobs
- Making data changes to the production database
- SQL Performance, Optimisation and capacity planning.
- Managing database builds and rollouts.
- Defining SQL Standards and deployment processes
- Implement changes to increase data security
- Management of SQL Backups
- Management of Azure SQL server auto scaling
- Automation of routine daily checks/tasks
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Significant experience working in Database design and management
- Experience with both relational and non-relational DB's
- Involvement in cloud-based DB solutions and services (Eg: Azure)
- Should be proficient in advanced SQL and query optimization
- Should have hand on experience in ETL and monitoring tools
- Exposure to working as part of a multi-disciplinary cross-functional team.
- Excellent time management, planning and prioritising skills & able to demonstrable experience of being able to work under pressure.
- Adherence to ethical standards and practices in DB management
- Ensuring the confidentiality & privacy of sensitive information
Desirable Skills:
- Excel knowledge (as some of our input/output data is in this format).
- Any knowledge with Azure Data warehousing or Azure Fabric (for BI reporting needs)
